ABOUT THE PROJECT
In 2022, Moerk Water won the tender to provide an Indigenous Australian vocational training school in southwestern Western Australia with a solar powered water supply. The boarding school for year 11 and 12 students is for students from remote communities throughout Western Australia. The school teaches vocational skills to 70 male and female students each year. Due to the remoteness of the school, Moerk Water’s expertise in providing off-grid solar powered desalination systems was ideal for solving the school’s water supply issues. Moerk Water have designed and constructed a bespoke solar powered membrane filtration system to provide the school’s water needs (which includes water for irrigating crops). The unit can be run in either automatic or manual modes and is easy to use. The unit has remote monitoring capabilities which will reduce the need for major services. The water treatment unit is due to be commissioned and installed in late 2022. During commissioning the staff and students at the school will be trained in solar power and membrane filtration.
