ABOUT THE PROJECT
In 2018, Moerk Water was approached by the Wheatbelt Development Commision to provide an automated, solar powered water treatment system for a research farm located east of Perth. As part of the scope of works, Moerk Water visited the site of the research farm and performed water quality assessments of all of the available water sources. Once a suitable water source was chosen, Moerk Water designed and constructed an easy to use demonstration unit to Australian-German engineering standards. The unit uses membrane filtration to treat brackish water to a potable standard using solar energy as the power source. Moerk Water commissioned the unit on site with help from the students of the research farm. The demonstration unit has been in operation since 2019.
Project Outcomes:
- Moerk Water was approached in 2018 to provide a demonstration solar powered desalination unit for a research farm in Western Australia
- The research farm is located east of Perth and showcases different machinery to demonstrate the latest technology in agriculture
- Moerk Water installed the water treatment unit and the PV system with the assistance of students from the research farm
- Demonstration unit has been operational since 2019
