Since more than 50 years, the Lighthouse Eye Clinic serves people in East Africa by offering excellent treatment for many kinds of eye diseases. Yearly more than 25,000 patients are treated. But lately the water situation became challenging, the public grid does not deliver sufficient water any more in the fast growing city of Mombasa.

And the clinic’s own well only delivers salty water, not suitable for drinking. To tackle the worsening situation, Mörk Water Solutions set up a desalination plant at the clinic which directly turns salty water into clean drinking water. It now delivers 2,000 liter of high quality sweet water every day which meets the demand of drinking water for staff and patients as well as cleaning purposes of sensitive laboratory equipment. »All staff of the hospital as well as the patients are very delighted about the great drinking water quality. Thank you very much for your contribution, said  MacDonald Sabwa from the Lighthouse Eye Centre.

A technician from the clinic was trained during the unit installation. He is now in charge of the unit to allow its smooth operation. Mörk Water Solutions is analyzing operations data and sends out a maintenance technician whenever required.
