Saline Water Treatment Systems

Our Treatment Solutions for Saline Water

Saline water is easily treatable using one of our desalination treatment systems. Our membrane systems easily remove salt using reverse osmosis. Our engineers can help you to choose the right saline water treatment system for your needs. They are easy to transport and can be adapted to any scale.

TREATING SALINE WATER..

The concentration of salt in saline water ranges from 30 grams per litre to 50 grams per litre – far too high for human consumption. Sea water is an example of saline water, as is saline ground water. Water with a salt concentration below 30 grams per litre is called brackish water and below 0.5 grams per litre is called fresh water.

The main contaminant in saline water is salts, mainly sodium and chloride ions. To remove these ions from the water, desalination technologies are required. For saline water, the most energy efficient desalination technology is reverse osmosis, a membrane desalination method.

When Reverse osmosis is used to treat saline water, the water is divided into two streams, a product water stream with less salt and a reject or concentrate stream with more salt. Moerk Water, which has more than a decade of experience designing and constructing Membrane Desalinations units, have a range of reverse osmosis systems capable of treating saline water. These units can be operated chemical free and using renewable energy.

Moerk Water has partnered with governments, resorts, communities and training centres to supply drinking water from a saline source.

Most Common Plants & Systems for Treating Saline Water

Our treatment plants are individually designed to meet the specific requirements to create a supply of water that is safe for drinking or use in commercial and industrial situations.

Brackish Water Treatment

Moerk Water specialises in designing and building custom desalination plants and systems to treat various saline water sources to achieve water that is ready for commercial application and/or safe drinking water.

Seawater Desalination

Reverse osmosis is the most cost effective method for removing the salt from seawater (seawater desalination). Given the high energy cost of the process, energy recovery devices, low recovery rates and renewable energy systems are all factors effecting the utility of this system

OTHER WATER SOURCES WE TREAT

Moerk’s water treatment technology can convert a wide range of water types, including sea water, brackish water and contaminated water into safe drinking water that meets World Health Organisation water quality standards.
