Moerk’s Business Development Manager, Barbara Brezger, joined government and private sector practitioners, students and academics from all over the world to discuss the future of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) at the recent WASH Futures 2016 conference in Brisbane.
It was encouraging to see that the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals are still firmly on the global agenda along with the need for long-term environmental and economic outcomes, something close to our heart and very much at the core of all our practices, and to see the Pacific region as a major theme.

We were also pleased to see climate change, in particular how it affects the most vulnerable, as a key topic of discussion.
Along with attending conference sessions and workshops, Barbara had meaningful discussions and furthered her industry contacts with other attendees, including those from Nepal, Papua New Guinea and Sri Lanka, other NGOs, World Vision, Water Aid and Plan International.
The conference was a joint project of The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the International WaterCentre (IWC) to discuss universal and sustained water, sanitation and hygiene. It focused on private sector participation in WASH, equity and WASH in the Pacific.
