The 16th Pacific Water and Wastewater Conference & Exhibition was held at the National Aquatic Centre in Honiara, Solomon Islands from the 25th August to 29th August 2025. The theme of the PWWA conference was “Water and Wastewater for all”. As they do every year, Moerk Water attended this important conference along with delegates from utilities, allied partners and stakeholders from all over the Pacific region.

Moerk Water talked to a range of different utilities and stakeholders about remote water treatment systems. Decentralised renewable energy powered water treatment is the best option for remote communities in many Pacific Island Countries. Dr Mat Francis presented a technical talk focusing on the pros and cons of decentralised seawater and brackish water desalination. There are some risks to using desalination in remote communities. However, the risks can be well managed if they are considered early enough during the project design phase. Dr Francis also delivered an interactive station talk on some of Moerk Water’s latest treatment systems across the Pacific. This included treatment systems for colloidal fouled surface water, microbiologically contaminated water and of course brackish and seawater desalination systems.

Across the week, Moerk Water met with several with local government representatives. Also while in Honiara, Moerk Water strengthened their ties with their local service technicians. Moerk Water’s operation and service model relies on these local technicians to ensure prompt in-country service of our water treatment assets.

Moerk Water would like to thank everyone who helped make the PWWA conference a success. Particular thanks to the PWWA secretariat and Solomon Water. Looking forward to PWWC’26 and coming to the beautiful French Polynesia!
