Addressing the Need for Resilience
We hear a lot about how we need to plan to be resilient, as individuals, as communities, and as countries. But how do we achieve resilience? In our context, our changing climate means increased risk of severe cyclones, sea level rise and rainfall variability. Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems that are used to convert brackish or sea water to WHO standard drinking water are the best solution in many situations. Here at Moerk Water we have been delivering sustainable clean water in extremely remote locations for more than 10 years. To aid in meeting these climatic changes our low maintenance, 3rd generation solar-powered reverse osmosis (RO) systems can give your community the resilient water infrastructure to survive and thrive despite these challenges.
Water Security through Reliable Climate-Independent Systems
In addition to having a high quality, simple to operate, maintain and well supported water purification system, it must be designed to be able to withstand the intense cyclones that are expected. Our designers and engineers at Moerk have considered this requirement and manufactured our systems to survive these events when properly prepared. To avoid dependence on grid or generator electricity, which can be cut off or fail at these critical times, our systems are solar powered by default, although they can also use these other power sources. Larger systems are installed inside a sea container with the solar panels that can be secured inside the sea container during the Cyclonic winds period. The experience in Vanuatu, described in the link below, demonstrates the effectiveness of our RO systems in providing clean water security, even in cyclone affected locations.
“For the first time in the history of our island we have a source of water which is reliable. When the rainwater tanks are empty, groundwater is not the best to drink. Whatever happens, we have a source of freshwater to drink.”
– Hon. Ralph Regenvanu (MP) Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade (Vanuatu) about the Moerk Water project in Uripiv
Turnkey Solutions and Support for Long-term Independence
Our experience extends to supporting RO and Nano filtration solutions in some of the most remote locations in the world. We are a trusted supplier of turnkey clean water solutions and are focused on delivering the training and support resources to ensure that the RO system runs smoothly with minimum external support long after the RO system is installed. This holistic solution philosophy, which includes post-sales support and training, is what sets us apart as a proven partner in sustainable clean water delivery.
The wide range of sizes and customisations means we have a solution that will meet your community’s specific needs. From small, widely distributed portable units for smaller villages or Islands, to large community-based systems suitable for large villages or small cities, we have the solution to meet your specific requirement.
